Our mission is to use behavioural science to help millions of people reduce their environmental impact.

Our small steps matter

Our small everyday actions, compounding over time, can make a huge difference to climate change and environmental sustainability.

Whilst making small changes doesn't require a lot of brain power, we tend to overthink things and worry that they won't actually contribute to helping the big picture.

That’s why we created One Small Step: a social enterprise that uses technology and behavioural science to make it easy and rewarding for people to successfully adopt greener habits.

You're more powerful than you realise

When you make a small change, it usually won’t feel like much as an individual. But if you look at the actions of the whole group, rather than viewing your own actions in isolation, it becomes clear that by acting together, our impact can be very big and very rapid.

We don’t need top-down government policies and regulations in order for a majority of us to start practicing environmentally sustainable behaviours.

It is within my power, and within yours, to focus on what we can control with regard to the climate crisis.

Our behaviour has a flow-on effect and will influence others to do the same. And even better, we can start making a lot of these changes right now.

Better together

Our goal is to help people reduce their carbon footprints to 2 tonnes of CO2 or below, in line with the UN’s 2050 goal for annual per person carbon footprints.

If 50,000 of us reduced our personal carbon footprints by just a quarter over the next 12 months, that saves a whopping 250,000 tonnes of carbon emissions (taking an average of 20 tonnes of CO2e a year as a baseline). That’s the same saving you get from planting 4 million tree seedlings, or from taking 54,000 cars off the road or from running 54 wind turbines instead of using fossil fuel energy for a year.

This is just the start

We launched the first version of the One Small Step app in May 2020. We’ve built it with a tiny team and have big plans to improve it over time.

The more people who use our app, the more insights we gain into how to most effectively support you to reduce your carbon footprint.

Download the app and let us know what you think - we'd love to hear your feedback.

Meet our Team

We're a small but formidable team dedicated to helping you make a real difference in preventing climate change.
